Fr. Rafael M. Ramírez, S.S.D.

The Neuhoff Institute is excited to announce that longtime University of Dallas scripture and ministry faculty, Fr. Rafael M. Ramírez, S.S.D., will join the 2025 Jubilee pilgrimage as a chaplain. 

Rev. Rafael M. Ramírez is an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Sacred Scripture (Theology and Ministry) at the University of Dallas (Irving, TX) where he also is a long-time instructor of both continuing education and diaconate intellectual formation programs in the Neuhoff Institute for Ministry and Evangelization. Fr. Ramirez is a priest in residence at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. Fr. Ramírez earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (1991) and his bachelor’s degree in sacred theology from the Pontifical Anthenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome (1994). He earned his licentiate in biblical studies (1998) at Rome’s Pontifical Biblical Institute, where he also received his PhD in biblical sciences (2008).

Fr. Ramírez is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Catholic Biblical Association, Associazione Biblica Italiana, and the American Schools of Oriental Research. He is the coauthor of two books, Pentateuco and Libros Proféticos II. He is a frequent conference speaker and leads educational pilgrimages to the Holy Land. Born in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico, and graduated high school in Salamanca, Spain, Fr. Ramírez is well known by his students for his quick wit, wealth of knowledge of holy sites, and pastoral care. With decades of experience traveling the world on pilgrimages from Italy to the Holy Land, Fr. Ramírez is a wonderful companion, host, and chaplain to accompany pilgrims as they explore Italy this Jubilee year.
