Latin, Concentration

Latin is one of three concentrations offered by the Classics Department. Coursework in Latin will start the student on a journey to reading some of the most seminal documents of the West, from the ancient Roman poets and orators to early Church fathers. Master the grammar and rhetoric of Latin to deepen your understanding of the art of language and communication for the purposes of the contemporary world.

Converse with the history and present of the West

A Concentration in Latin consists of four advanced (3000 or above) Latin language courses (CLL) offered through the Classics department. 

For one of the four advanced courses, one may substitute:
 - Two lower division courses in Greek such as:
       - CLG 1301 & 1302 First-Year Greek I and II 
 - A theoretical course in another discipline such as the ones below
       - EDU 5354 Language Acquisition/Linguistics
       - MCT 3330 Historical Linguistics
       - PHI 4335 Philosophy of Language
       - PSY 3334 Psychology of Language and Expression
 - An Advanced Course in a second language

Any other substitutions would require the approval of the coordinator.
